COLORADO COLLEEN: Canyon Country
Colorado National Monument, near Grand Junction, offers intoxicating views. Photos can't do the mystical landscapes justice, especially since there's nothing to add scale to these images. Imagine being completely wrapped in these vistas stunning enough to bring tears to one's eyes. Given the wintery day, we met hardly anybody on the long and winding road, but did see half a dozen deer. Stopped at visitor center and watched two fascinating videos: one explaining the geology, one about the park, in general.
