THE WRITTEN WORD: Robinson Jeffers Sundial Near Santa Barbara
As Santa Barbara burns, I recalled this curious sundial, which includes a car, dice, and oil barrells. James and I happened upon this sundial in an oceanside park outside Santa Barbara; and I was bowled over by the inscription:
“The tides are in our veins, We still mirror the stars, Life is your child, But there is in me older and harder than life and more impartial, The eye that watched before there was an ocean.” -- Robinson Jeffers
